Simple Guidelines for Guest Bloggers
You are reading this because we have invited you to be a guest blogger on our blog. We’ll make this process super simple for you, as we know you are probably very busy.
Step #1 Pick Your Dates
- Click here to visit our blog post-scheduling sheet. The yellow rows indicate open spots.
- Simply put your name and best e-mail address into each date that you would like to publish a post. (Please don’t select more than one post per month.)
- If you want to publish on a certain date but don’t like the overarching theme in Column D, ignore that topic and write yours in the topic/title column.
- PLEASE NOTE: The themes listed are only recommendations, as we are open to you submitting posts on any topics you feel comfortable with.
- Please add the date to your calendar and plan to submit the draft to us ONE WEEK prior to publication date.
Click here to select your spots. (If it doesn’t work, click here to e-mail me.)
Step #2 Write
A good post is:
- In the range of 400-700 words;
- Informal in style and tells a personal story;
-
Contains a number of key points (i.e. 5 Steps to Building a….);
-
Has one key take-away;
-
Solution driven rather than problem driven;
-
Of interest to the audience which typically consists of engineers under 40 years of age looking to develop personally and professionally;
-
Is conversational – A great way to ensure your writing is conversational is to write the way you talk. Whenever you finish a paragraph or a section, read it aloud. You’ll be amazed at how different your writing is from your speech.
- Contains a bio at the bottom of the post that links back to your site.
You are encouraged but not required to use multimedia (e.g. photo, video) in the post. If you don’t, we will select a photo for the post;
Here are two sample guest posts: A Long Post and A Short Post
- Bullet points
- Numbered lists
- Bold formatting
- Short paragraphs
- Conversational content
We ask that you please do not submit posts identical to ones that have been published previously, however if you make minor modifications to previously published posts, that is fine. Also, you may publish these posts on other websites after you publish it on the EMI blog.
Step #3 Submit
- Email a draft of your post to Angelique Burns ([email protected]) Please include a short biography as well as a head shot photo of yourself that we can use in the blog post.
- Posts will be edited and sent back to you for your review (only if there are significant changes which means more than some simple grammar).
- Post will go live on publication date and Angelique will email you the information for sharing.
Ownership
- You own the content;
- You may repost to other websites;
- Engineering Management Institute reserves the right to repost to other affiliated websites.
