Our final session of our ASME A Day in the Life Series of 2021 will be focused around providing career coaching, advice and guidance to ASME student and recent graduate members.
Jeff Perry, mechanical engineer turned career coach, along with Anthony Fasano, also an engineer turned career coach will answer all of the participants career related questions including past questions from ASME members including:
- What kind of advice would you have for young engineers who are graduating soon or just have graduated?
- What are some best practices for resume preparation?
- How important is LinkedIn at this stage of my career?
- At what point in my college career should I start applying for internships?
- What is the most important item on my resume as an engineering student?
- How important do you consider soft skills in mechanical engineering?
- Should I go right into a corporate job after college, or should I pursue a Master’s degree?

Jeff Perry, MBA
Jeff Perry is a leadership/career coach for engineers, building mindsets, leadership, and career intentions to unlock hidden potential and remove self-imposed roadblocks for career and life. For years, he has had the pleasure of supporting engineers and software pros, from new grads to director level. Having been on the front lines in the technical world, he has been able to map out the necessary skills for becoming a quality leader in the field. Jeff is the founder of More than Engineering through which he provides coaching and guidance to engineers and also the host of The Engineering Career Coach Podcast.
Anthony Fasano, PE
After becoming a successful engineer at a very young age, Fasano realized that his success was largely related to the development of his non-technical, or core skills. Since that time, he has decided to transition his career from designing to inspiring engineers in their soft skill development through coaching, speaking, and training.
Fasano has written a bestselling book titled, “Engineer Your Own Success: 7 Key Elements to Creating an Extraordinary Engineering Career. He has also created two top-rated iTunes podcasts for engineers. The Engineering Career Coach podcast was recently cited by Forbes as one of the top 15 most inspiring for professionals.
