Engineering Management Institute (EMI) is seeking experienced architecture professionals to join our network of remote, part-time instructors. In this role, you’ll deliver engaging online training sessions that help engineers, architects, and technical professionals develop the leadership, project management, and communication skills they need to succeed in today’s complex AEC environment. While sessions are typically delivered virtually, instructors may occasionally have the opportunity to facilitate in-person training sessions with client firms, scheduled well in advance.

What You’ll Do

EMI instructors deliver live virtual training sessions via Zoom/MS Teams that help AEC professionals develop practical skills they can immediately apply in their projects and organizations.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver engaging virtual learning sessions for AEC professionals
  • Facilitate discussion-based training that encourages participation and knowledge sharing
  • Review client background information provided by EMI prior to sessions
  • Prepare briefly before sessions to ensure effective delivery
  • Connect training concepts to real-world AEC project scenarios
  • Represent EMI with professionalism and industry credibility
  • Participate in a quarterly instructor meeting (typically 60 minutes) to stay aligned with program updates

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking experienced architecture professionals who combine industry credibility with strong communication and facilitation skills.

Ideal candidates enjoy sharing their expertise and helping others grow professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10-15+ years of professional experience as an architect in the AEC industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) for Engineers or Architect Registration Examination (ARE) for Architects is strongly preferred
  • Experience presenting, speaking, consulting, or facilitating discussions
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Comfortable using Zoom/MS Teams and virtual presentation tools
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical insights
  • Passion for helping AEC professionals grow as leaders and project managers

Schedule & Time Commitment

This is a part-time role with variable hours based on program demand.

  • Typically 1-4 live sessions per month
  • Each session lasts approximately two hours
  • About 30 minutes of preparation time prior to each session
  • Participation in quarterly instructor meetings


Sessions are generally scheduled in advance, and instructors are notified when assignments become available. This role is primarily virtual; however, instructors may occasionally be invited to facilitate in-person sessions with client organizations when program needs arise. These opportunities are scheduled well in advance and travel is expected to be limited and infrequent. 

Technology & Workspace Requirements

To ensure a high-quality virtual learning experience, instructors should maintain:

  • Computer capable of running Zoom/MS Teams and presentation software (dual monitors strongly preferred)
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Professional-quality microphone or headset
  • Quiet, private workspace free from distractions
  • Adequate lighting for video delivery
  • Comfort using Zoom/MS Teams and online presentation tools
