The Engineering Management Institute is thrilled to announce that we’ve launched a new and exciting series on The Civil Engineering Podcast entitled Women in Civil Engineering to feature some of the great women working in the field. Diversity and inclusion is more important than ever in the workplace, especially in the field of civil engineering where we are faced with complex challenges throughout the built environment. In order to solve these problems, we’re going to need a diverse workforce that can bring different ideas to the table, and this workforce includes many amazing women that have been doing great things in the civil engineering field.

Here at the Engineering Management Institute, we’ve been producing content for engineers for more than 10 years and we’ve built up a large supportive audience and we want to use our platform to do something good for the engineering community and we believe that highlighting women in civil engineering will yield positive results throughout the industry including bolstering existing STEM outreach efforts.

Our first episode of the series (which you can find here)recently launched with Monica Morales, water engineer for Jacobs out in Los Angeles.  Monica is the perfect person to kick this series off. Not only is she doing great things in her career, but she’s doing them at such a young age. So in this first episode, to kick the series off, Monica talks about how important diversity and inclusion is in civil engineering, how important it is to have women leaders in the field and she discusses some of her engineering accomplishments to date.

Now, the intent of this series is not just to have women come on and talk about the importance of diversity and inclusion in every episode. That’s not it at all. In fact, we’re talking to these women about their expertise in civil engineering, the interesting and important projects that they’re working on, and the dynamic teams that they’re building.

You can find all of the episodes in this series by clicking here and you can subscribe here to the podcasts in Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to podcast. If you have a recommendation for someone that you think we should feature, and the woman in civil engineering series, then we would ask you to submit them through this form at the bottom of this page.

Thank you for helping us highlight the women in civil engineering!

To your success,
